Tantra - the art of sacred sexuality

FAQs about workshops

  • Is there nudity?

Nudity is not a requirement for Tantric work. In our beginner workshops there is no need to be naked. Some of our bodywork excercises can be appreciated more fully with less clothes on, but it is always the participant's choice as to whether or not they remove any clothes.

  • Is there any "sexual" contact?

In singles based work there is no sexual intercourse.  In introductory singles work that I do there is no genital contact. We are careful to make sure women and men are clear about any boundaries they have and expect participants to make it clear immediately to the transgressant or ourselves if such an incident happens.

  • Do I need any previous experience?

For my workshops you need no experience. Any experience in other self development practices, bodywork, psychological or spiritual practice can be useful, although occasionally it may be a hinderance. An open mind, a sense of adventure and a sense of humour is what you need most.

  • I havent got a partner, so would there be any point in me coming?

The exercises in the individual workshops are done in ones, twos, threes, or even bigger numbers. Your experience is for yourself so it doesnt matter if you have a partner, or who your partner is. Come on your own and meet people in a new, open way. If you are on your own it is a very good idea to find out more about youself and your sexuality without the distraction of someone else. It may also help you to understand why you are on your own - and help you change your situation.

  • I have got a partner but he/she isn't interested in tantra, can I still come?

This is not an uncommon situation. Many people attend individual workshops without their partner. I strongly recommend that you tell your partner that you are coming to the workshop, that you allow him/her to express any fears and you discuss what boundaries need to be in place. This can be a tricky situation, please contact me if you wish to discuss it further.

  • Can tantra be used as therapy?

Strictly speaking it is not a therapy. On the other hand most people are attracted to do something new and very different when something is not right with themselves or their lives. This might be at a physical. emotional or spiritual level. We do not consider ourselves as healers but more expedition leaders and teachers. The Tantra itself is capable of healing.

  • What is a lungi and why do I require one?

Lungi is an Indian word for a sarong. We use the lungi as a partway stage between fully clothed and naked. It allows you to keep any parts of your self covered either for modesty or to keep you warm. Some of the exercises we do are deeply relaxing which makes us feel cool in spite of the warm surroundings. It is also one of the tools we use to create a sense of "sacred space" in which we do our more intense exercises. Don't worry if you can't find a lungi, I usually have a selection for sale. I also recommend visiting www.priyatrading.co.uk for the purchase of lungi and related items.
